New Members Pinned

L-R Julia Hommel, Rodger Allison, Billie Snively, Michelle Eastman

President Patti Thomas pins new members Julia Hommel, Rodger Allison, Billie Snively, and Michelle Eastman at the Belleville Kiwanis Club Holiday Party on December 28, 2017. New members are vital to the strength and vitality of any organization. Bringing fresh ideas and energy to the Belleville Kiwanis Club, these members have already made an impact by helping to make the Christmas Tree Lot a success. Other areas they are instrumental in the Club’s success is the Designer Purse Bingo, media relations, and Cub Scout Charter.

After the grand success of the inaugural Designer Purse BINGO held last fall, it returns on February 18, 2018. There is no better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than with the Belleville Kiwanis Club as we raise money for projects that benefit the children in our community. Join us at the Quail Club at 8303 Concordia Rd. in Belleville.

Yes Ladies! You too can leave the afternoon’s festivities with a purse or purses from designer brands Coach, Michael Kors, Dooney & Bourke, and Kate Spade. This is not for the feint of heart though. The competition is intensely fun!

Guys, this is that perfect gift for your Valentine! Your gift allows your sweetheart to get together with friends and meet new ones as she competes for her own designer purse. She will come home with a bounce in her step and a smile on her face after such a fun day out with the girls. She may even have a new expensive purse on her arm.

All of this is for only $30 in advance or $35 at the Door. Price includes 6 paper cards for 10 games plus 2 drink tickets. Increase your chances for $5 per 6 additional cards. Continue reading “DESIGNER PURSE BINGO RETURNS FEBRUARY 18”

Spending the evening with good friends is always fun. Spending it with the Bellville Kiwanians is a blast!  Not only were the members of the Belleville Kiwanis Club having a good time together, they were wrapping books, toys, games, clothes, and other gifts for a local family. The meeting hall was filled with Christmas paper, tape, scissors, bags, and laughter.

Jennifer Stauffer Recognized for Dedicated Service to the Community

Jennifer Stauffer awarded the Luis V. Amador Mediallion for dedication and service to the community.

Belleville Kiwanis Club member Jennifer Stauffer was recently honored with a Luis V. Amador Medallion award for her dedication to service in our community as well as her work with the Key Club, a leadership and service group for high school students.

Jennifer established a Key Club at Belleville West.  Key Clubs are student organized and student led.  In her role as advisor, Jennifer has helped hundreds of students develop leadership skills and become active in service to the local community.  These students contribute thousands of hours of community service annually to various projects and organizations in the Greater Belleville area.

The Luis V. Amador Medallion Award was established to honor the contributions of the former medical director of the Spastics Paralysis Research Foundation by extending a special recognition to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service within his or her community.

The SPRF is a research foundation supported by Kiwanis clubs in Illinois and Eastern Iowa. Spastic Paralysis is not a disease itself, but a symptom of various diseases or medical conditions of the central nervous system. Funded research has included diseases such as brain tumors, spina bifida, Alzheimer, genetic causes of mental retardation such as fragile x syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, stroke rehabilitation, neonatal care and developmental disabilities of prematurely born infants. Other research has been purely scientific in the development of medical equipment and techniques used to study the nervous system.  Researchers supported by this foundation are located in both Iowa & Illinois.  Two researchers are also based in St Louis including one at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
